Dear Sue,
Nice to hear from you again.Thank you for correcting my letter. Thank you for congratulating to me and thank you for speaking about punctuation. I speak Farsi. I like speak in Arabic, but I have no time for reading Arabic. I think Persian is better than Farsi. If you search in internet you will see in old maps, Persian land. Persia was a nation that they came to Iran 2500 years ago. Now, we have a state in Iran with this name: “Fars”. It is because that the nation lived there. I like some Americans films. For example I like transporter, face off and actions Americans films. I have a bad exam in this day and I had many mistakes in my exam. Today was a bad day. I make mistakes, because I am panicky in exams.
I am sorry for my mistakes.
Take care,
Bahman

Hi Bahman, I'm so sorry you feel so bad about your exam. I know the feeling. Such an experience can sometimes help one toughen one's grip on his/her life. I once got a very bad grade in History because I didn't think I needed to study. It made me so angry that I told the professor, "You will have a hard time giving me another grade that low." I ended up with a good grade in the course because my pride pushed me to study much harder.
I am confused. I thought Farsi was Persian. Is it somewhat like British English and American English? We understand one another, but we have different words for some things. I really enjoy the information you give me about your culture. Thank you so much.
Sue, "Farsi" is a Persian word. "Persian" is an English word. They both refer to the same language. The case is by no means anything similar to British and American English. "Pars" is the race that inhabited ancient Iran. "Parsi" is an adjective made from this word. After Arabs invaded Persia they changed the word "Pars" to "Fars" because in Arabic they do not have the sound "p". But the word "Pars" is quite common today. Hope this helps.
Ali
